No matter how great a new design may be, it is almost always destined to battle with the Resistance to Change Monster.  Read More

Cheap Thrills

We’ve all heard the announcer scream, ‘A BRAND NEW CAR!” on the perrenial favorite, The Price is Right. Now imagine hearing that phrase in your head as you see the young motorists below as they try not to yawn after getting new cars for Christmas. Compare this with the image of sheer joyous rapture as they cruise about in, “AN OLD LAUNDRY BASKET!” Kids.... Read More

Recent iPhone Apps of Note

Having a lot of fun with the following iPhone apps. Most are free, so satisfy your inner cheapskate. Gowalla - Not sure I am having fun with it as much as I am addicted to collecting stamps and pins (also, I am just trying to catch Jeremy without resorting to checking in to places I haven’t actually visited). Here’s a tip: If you want to be the founder of a lot of locations,... Read More

Upgrading WordPress Issues

Upgrading WordPress has munged all of my categories and looks like it might take a while to sort out. I may need to reverse-engineer each and every post in the database. Sounds like time I already don’t have to waste on such a silly problem.  Read More

I Need Help

On the way to rehearse with a band in Arlington today, I drank a 12-ounce can of Red Bull. Several hours later on the drive home, I realized that I had not finished it and there was about a third left. I picked up the very hot can (it was nearly 80 degrees today) and drained it without even pausing. I am starting to appreciate how hooked on Red Bull I might be.   Read More

We Are Having a Girl!

Julee had a sonogram today and  we are officially having a girl.  Sugar and spice and everything nice; that’s what little sisters are made of. Jason and I are waking up early for a head start on his years and years of training on being a big brother/blocker/bouncer.  You know, for all the riff raff awaiting us in the teen years.  Read More

Belated Moving Day

Who knew moving into a new house would be so much harder with a 14-month old child than without one? And if I find myself in Home Depot one more time this week, I am gonna hurl.  Read More

Final Post from 2822 Stokely Hill

As I sit here and type this last post, listening to Beck’s Midnite Vultures, the movers (and shakers, apparently) are loading all of our worldly possessions onto an 18-wheeler. Julee and I will miss this house. We were deep into the details of its construction and design appointments. It has been a wonderful home for us. The next month will be insanely busy as a month of... Read More
