Big Design Conference This Friday!
Way too much travel, work, and Friday’s conference has sapped all my ability to post to this site. Here is a sneak peek at my cover slide for my 10am presentation at Big Design Conference. Overseas Usability Testing View more presentations from Joe Dyer. Read More
Big Design Conference
The Big Design Conference in Dallas, 28-29 May, is arguably the best value in Web design-related conferences. Register today to see nationally and regionally-recognized speakers and network your brains out. I’ll be speaking on usability testing but don’t let that deter you from attending. :) Big Design Conference Read More
SXSW Interactive Questions
During a conversation at work today, we talked about how embarrassingly bad the audience questions were at the panels and presentations. Surely, the world’s largest collection of geeks and web rock stars (see below) could come up with better, more intelligent questions at the end of each session. In fact, nearly every question asked could fit into one of the following categories: “I... Read More
Tomorrow Happens Here. I Mean, There.

Here is a version of the slides.... Read More
Presenting at Big (D)esign Conference 2009 Today

Will post how well/badly it went. Read More
Skills for Present and Future UX Practitioners
The era of the lone designer is pretty much over. When it comes to selecting the best candidates for work in experience design positions, design rationale and the process are becoming more important the the actual quality of the portfolio. There is considerable movement away from a skill set and towards a problem solving mindset or world view. Individual skill sets (javaScript,... Read More
Adaptive Path MX versus UX
After attending both MX Week 2007 in San Francisco and UX Week 2007 in Washington DC, I think I enjoyed MX more. Both were fantastic conferences. If I could boil it down to a single observation, it would be that MX leaned strategic and UX leaned tactical. If strategy and tactics were found on the Table of Elements, strategy would live several rows south of tactics. Being much denser,... Read More
Surrounded by Live Bloggers
I just noticed as I sit here at UX Week 2007 that I am surrounded by people live blogging. Judging from the screens I see all around me, WordPress is the clear favorite. Way to go, WordPress! Read More
