Our Lips Are So Close …
I miss carpooling to work with my spouse. She now works from home and we no longer work for the same company. And rather than call home during the workday on my iPhone (with its awesome good adequate AT&T network), I much prefer video conferencing using Google Talk. This way, she feels very close. :) Teleconferencing with Julee Here is Julee at the Twitter CEO Keynote Speech at SXSW Interactive (Photo credit: Jeremy Johnson). Julee at SXSWi Read More

Back to Back Concerts
After being chewed up and spit out of the grind that is SXSW Interactive, I made it back home for a couple of concerts. Muse played the Fort Worth Convention Center with special guest, Silversun Pickups and was one of the best shows I have ever seen. Touring with U2 obviously had an impact on Muse’s stage show and art direction. If allowed only one word to describe the show, it would be: Orwellian. Or awesome. Or awesomely Orwellian. Fast forward one night to the Dallas... Read More

Lesson in Jasonese
The following words and phrases are often spoken by our 3-year old son. I never correct him because I am often laughing too hard. Here they are in no particular order: Bix – To fix. “Dada, will you bix the window I just broke?” Overt – The word “over” with a not so silent “t” as in, “This show is overt.” Mort – The word more “but” conjugated (?) the same as “over.” Soupcase – Luggage.... Tomorrow Happens Here. I Mean, There.
And I don’t really mean tomorrow is happening right now. I am actually leaving tomorrow for SXSW. Also, not here but in Austin, TX. Man, this is making my head hurt. I think I’m going to go lie down. SXSW '10 Read More

Setlists for Next Week’s Muse Concert
Below are the expected setlists for both Muse and opening act, Silversun Pickups at the Fort Worth Convention Center. I would like it more if both bands were playing more of their older songs but I am pretty happy with the selections made. I cannot wait to hear them play Unnatural Selection again. Muse 1. Uprising 2. Resistance 3. New Born 4. Map of the Problematique 5. Supermassive Black Hole 6. Guiding Light 7. Interlude 8. Hysteria ... Read More
Up Wins Best Animated Film
2009 was an amazing year for animation. Despite all the competition from Coraline, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and 9, Up was declared the winner. And no wonder. Pixar tells stories better than anyone else. I can’t wait to see what they release next. One of the best films ever Read More
Your Friend the Rat
One of my favorite Pixar DVD extras is the 11-minute short called, Your Friend the Rat. This mostly 2D traditional animation sequence can be found on the Ratatouille DVD. If you blink, you will miss the screen grab below. I just love it when The Beatles make a cameo appearance in anything. Read More

Wireframe Idea
At the risk of posting a painfully obvious design technique, I wanted to share something I saw employed recently at work. The group responsible for this has the luxury of having a ridiculously long (18 feet?) dry erase board with which to display a large number of wireframes with annotations. Rather than just show the UI changes based on user inputs as a static series of printed wireframes, these designers chose to create overlays to show temporal changes. As a fan of lo-fi design...
